Standing outside,
watching the smoke rise from my cigarette,
I stole a glance to the building next to me.
I saw a man,
sitting in a chair,
reading,
but also stealing glances up at me
while I continued to inhale.
With every exhale of my smoke,
I watched him through the veiled rain
That seemed to be the wall that separated us.
For a moment,
I wondered about all the possibilities that
could come from a joining.
A joining of purity in souls.
A joining of absolute bliss.
A joining of two strangers
Who have nothing going for them
but the moment.
